Austine Retrospective - Polarized Light Collage

  • March 28 - June 7, 2009
  • Lakeview Museum of Arts & Sciences
  • Peoria, Illinois (USA)

The artist, who goes simply by Austine, creates polarized light collages that she calls "Polages." These are interactive and kinetic or morphing figurative images. When displayed in special kinetic light boxes they change in ways evocative of passing time: a sun setting, the changing seasons, people aging.

One & Other by Antony Gormley (London)

  • July 6 - October 14, 2009
  • Trafalgar Square, London

This summer, sculptor Antony Gormley invites you to help create an astonishing living monument. He is asking the people of the UK to occupy the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in London, a space normally reserved for statues of Kings and Generals. They will become an image of themselves, and a representation of the whole of humanity.

Every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days without a break, a different person will make the Plinth their own. If you're selected, you can use your time on the plinth as you like. One & Other is open to anyone and everyone from any corner of the UK. As long as you're 16 or over and are living or staying in the UK, you can apply to be part of this unforgettable artistic experiment.

Future of Sound: SoundLife (London)

  • June 4-14, 2009
  • Audio Installation – Leceister Square Gardens
  • London, UK

SoundLife London is a unique 3-D sound composition. It has been created especially for Leicester Square Gardens to reveal the three-dimensional sound world that surrounds us at all times, in the most fascinating and diverse city in the world.

The composition will consist of an hour long, looped 'soundscape' which will inhabit the entire space of the Leicester Square gardens over a 10-day period – at times manifested as a sort of ghostly activity moving and tracking visitors around the space, at others a subtle and ambient musical composition.
