ISEA2006 and ZeroOne San Jose
ISEA2006 was held in August this year in conjunction with the first ZeroOne San Jose biennial art and technology festival. As this was local for me, it was exciting to see a city in the U.S. launch an art and technology festival. Like any first time attempt, it will get smoother over time but the team is to be congratulated for getting it launched! Most of the projects in this show required time to absorb and experience fully as many were interactive and required more than passive effort on the part of people attending the show. The topics which many of the artists were exploring were timely—war, biotechnology, surveillance, location, memory and robotics. I have launched an artist interview channel on YouTube and have placed several videos from the show there for you to check out.
I have a few more to convert and post but in the meantime, here are a couple for you to enjoy:
Jennifer Willett and Oron Catts
